Apoptosis inhibitor survivin
Survivin is a 16kDa member of the Inhibitor of Apoptosis (IAP) family which also plays a role in chromosome segregation and cytokinesis. The anti-apoptotic function of Survivn comes from its ability to inhibit the activation of Caspases 3 and 7. Survivin is found to be upregulated in various tumors due to its ability to suppress apoptosis.
