Pancreatic Polypeptide

Pancreatic Polypeptide

Pancreatic Polypeptide (PPP) is a 36 amino acid polypeptide that suppresses pancreatic secretions and stimulates gastric secretion. PPP secretions are increased after protein ingestion, fasting, exercise, and acute hypoglycemia. Secretions are decreased by somatostatin and intravenous glucose. Its functions are unknown but it has been suggested that PPP exerts its effects on hepatic glycogen levels and gastrointestinal secretions.
