OSM is a member of the IL-6 cytokine family. It is expressed primarily by activated monocytes and macrophages, activated T cells, dendritic cells, neutrophils, and osteoblasts. OSM can signal through two receptor complexes. Type I OSM receptor (heterodimers composed of LIFR and IL6ST) and type II OSM receptor (heterodimers composed of OSMR and IL6ST). OSM has been found to regulate a wide range of cell types.
