Melanoma-associated antigen 3 Simoa
MAGE3 is a member of the melanoma-associated antigen gene family. It is a tumor specific protein that plays a role in their growth and immune evasion. It acts as a cellular master regulator by stimulating E3 ubiquitin ligase tripartite motif-containing protein (TRIM28), resulting in regulation of various cellular targets. The normal function of MAGE3 in healthy cells is unknown. The presence of the antigen on tumor cells has been associated with worse prognoses. It is expressed in various tissue types, including melanoma, sarcoma, and bladder, liver and esophageal cancer, with higher expression rates observed as cancers advance. It is not expressed in normal tissue cells, except in the testis and placenta.
