Interleukin-6 receptor subunit beta

Interleukin-6 receptor subunit beta

Interleukin-6 receptor subunit beta (IL-6R beta; gp130, IL-6R?) is a transmembrane glycoprotein that is a subunit constituent of several cytokine receptors, including those for IL-6, IL-11, LIF, Oncostatin M, and CNTF. Soluble forms of IL-6R beta with molecular masses of 90 and 110 kDa have been found in serum. They can inhibit biological functions of those cytokines utilizing receptor systems with IL-6R beta as a component.
