Interleukin-17

Interleukin-17

Interleukin-17 (IL-17) is a cytokine and founding member of the IL-17 family. It recruits monocytes and neutrophils to inflammation sites by increasing chemokine production in various tissues, similar to interferon gamma. The family of proteins function in delayed-type reactions and respond to extracellular pathogen invasion by inducing the destruction of the pathogens cellular matrix.
