Interleukin-15 Simoa
Interleukin-15 (IL-15) is a cytokine that stimulates T-lymphocyte proliferation and plays a major role in the development of protective and inflammatory immune responses through the modulation of immune cells in the innate and adaptive immune systems. IL-15 stimulates proliferation of natural killer cells, T-cells, B-cells, and the secretion of several cytokines. It is composed of 162 amino acids and is induced by Interferon-gamma. IL-15 is most abundant in skeletal muscle and placenta but is also detected in the heart, lung, liver, and kidney. Important sources for IL-15 include cell types such as macrophages, dendritic cells, intestinal epithelial cells, thymic epithelial cells, and keratinocytes.
