Epiregulin

Epiregulin

Epiregulin (EPR) is a member of the EGF family of growth factors that is primarily expressed in the placenta and macrophages. High levels of expression have been detected in various carcinomas. Epiregulin also stimulates the proliferation of fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells, and hepatocytes, and has been shown to inhibit the growth of several epithelial tumor cells. Epiregulin has been implicated in the implantation process during pregnancy.
