Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor
Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) is a protein found in neurons where it helps to support their survival and encourage neuro- and synaptogenesis. Various studies have shown possible links between low levels of BDNF and conditions such as depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, Alzheimers disease (AD) and senile dementia of Alzheimers type, a disorder or loss of mental functions resulting from brain tissue changes.
